Since time immemorial in the highlands of Puno, craft has always been a major source of work for the Andean people, expressing in this way, their religion and customs.

With respect to ceramics and pottery have Checca, Santiago and Pukara Pupuja as the main production site of this art. Textiles can indicate that the islands Taquile and Amantani, are the finest Andean weavers, symbolizing their belts and blankets (and llicllas chumpis), religious rituals, family, agriculture and livestock.
In the making of masks, the city of Puno is the largest producer of these, because for the feast of the Virgen de la Candelaria, are made especially all kinds of masks and costumes.
Elsewhere in the department of Puno, there are artisans who make objects representing different site such as straw baskets and carved in stone in Amantani Juli wood carving, clay handicrafts Acora (Alasitas, etc.).
